Happy Holidays

Come celebrate with open mic!

Dear Pamlico Writers–

We had a small but mighty group for critiques on Tuesday night. We are doing some amazing writing! The plot thickens everywhere you look. Our favorite American videographer is getting into even more trouble in Germany. A questioning federal employee is being followed by a suspicious stranger. An unfolding and beautiful fantasy landscape is capturing our imaginations. The sounds of thunder and jazz are competing for a poet’s identity. And an irascible grammarian is learning when she’s crossed the line.

To finish out December, we will gather for Open Mic and Christmas cheer at The Main Cup on Tuesday, December 19 at 5:00 pm. Food, coffee, and cider will be provided. Come if you can and bring a friend. We’ve also invited the PamPack Creative Writing Club. If you can’t make it, have a Merry Christmas and we will see you in 2024.

Saturday, September 23rd, 10 am to 5pm the Haunted Pamlico will present a selection of the winning film submissions for their fifth annual Carnival of Darkness Film Festival. The films will be screened at the historic Turnage Theatre, 150 West Main Street Washington, North Carolina.

Sponsors of Carnival of Darkness include Nights of Fright/Raised in a Barn Farm; Haunted Pamlico/Alternative Stage, our developing nonprofit; Ken and Marj Harrington; Russ and Robin Woolard; Pamela Anderson/AdMix Agency; McCabe’s Costumes of Winterville and anonymous donors. The festival is supported through box-office and marketing services by Arts of the Pamlico and the Turnage Theater. Our partners include Rock the Pamlico and the Pamlico Writers Group. Our festival is staffed by actors, directors, makeup artists, screenwriters, and technicians who have been involved in theater and independent filmmaking for many years. Some of Haunted Pamlico’s short films have enjoyed viral success and have been seen at festivals from Canada to Wilmington, N.C. We co-produce films by sci-fi, horror, and suspense filmmakers living in eastern North Carolina. We host screenings of original work. With our parent organization, Alternative Stage, we’ve presented original plays that have helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for area charities. We are honored to bring you a festival that supports the films of artists the world over.
